Thank you - and your mum! - for this post. Articles like this really helps me prepare mentally for our own circumnavigaton, we are starting in october. Homeschooling and safety issues are our biggest challenges - which we should not fail. Looking forward to reading more posts from you!

I'm sure your blog will help many timid women to take "the leap" to move aboard and explore the world via their boats.
Selling the house, giving most stuff away and moving aboard was a liberating sensation. We did just that in 2000 and have never looked back for a nanosecond!
Your boat's name becomes your family name in the boating community.
We have our boat up for sale but hope it won't sell for a few more years!
Susan "Fred" and Jack
S/V Denali Rose (a ketch, Nauticat 43 motorsailer)

(currently in Mexico, being shipped to British Columbia, Canada this summer, after sailing from Maine to Texas to Trinidad to the ABC islands to Colombia through Panama Canal to Costa Rica)
